look in the owners manual for your car it will tell proper torqe for lugnuts and all other bolts on your vehicle then go by that
i have a snap-on 18v impact it has something like 375 lbs.ft. i have never had a problem taking off lugs and i work at a tire kingdom. i have even broken studs with it when i need to.
