  1. Nope, Allen wrench is 6 flat sides, torx is more of a six pointed star.

  2. no no no If you use a torx to remove an allen you will damage the torx and if you use an allen to remove a torx you will damage the torx

  3. Don W. is the toolman. He knows his stuff. Tim Allen would be proud.

  4. no, it ruins its

use the proper tools and your life will be eaiser

  5. NO, an allan wrench is shaped like a hexagon with six sides. A torx has six flutes and looks a lot like an asterisk (look at the symbol above the eight ****.

  6. NO. You might even be able to use allen wrench but I would not recommend it. The Torx is STAR like too design NOT to slip. Normally screws and bolts are design to have the heads slip (even if it stripped) to prevent over torquing and stripping the thread. At manufacturing the assembler dials in the torque setting on TORX (much like on modern power drills). This allows the factory to assure higher quality at faster pace.

Just as I’m now getting used to the Philips screws and allen wrench, now they come up with TORX. Go figure.
