Anyone have an idea how these things work?

you put it on the nut or bolt, and you tighten it to what it needs to fit on.
well the bottom jaw of the wrench has teeth on it like a gear and the wheel you turn with your finger have almost like threads on it like a bolt that spiral down that fit in the teeth on the bottom jaw, as it turns it moves the jaw
